Born in Warsaw (1979), Joanna Szproch is a Berlin-based visual artist and activist working primarily with lens-based media. After earning her MA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź (2004), she moved to Berlin in 2012, transitioning from commercial work to autobiographical projects. As a single mother, migrant, and abuse survivor, she rejects female martyrdom, using art and participatory projects to reclaim pleasure and joy. Her debut art-photo-book, Alltagsfantasie (André Frère Éditions, 2023), marks a milestone in her career, advocating for artistic introspection, conviviality, and the pursuit of beauty as a birthright, empowering women to live unapologetically.
