G. Kühnhardt Alvarez (they, them) works artistically, curatorially and collectively in the visual arts and culture. Dey works with the tools of community building, intimacy, visualization, critique of representation and 'cuteness' to initiate a decentralization of habitual hierarchies and discriminatory reproductions of the local art context. Dey has been awarded collectively and individually the Solitude Fellowship of Akademie Schloss Solitude (2023/24), the Mannheim Democracy Prize (2022), Futuress.org: Against the Grain Fellowship (2021), and the Baden-Württemberg Fellowship (2015), among others. Kühnhardt Alvarez studied German language and literature, visual communication, exhibition design and photography in Germany and Japan.
